DOWNERS GROVE — The Illinois Tollway has deployed 24-hour Hot Weather Patrols to help stranded drivers during a stretch of dangerously hot and humid conditions expected to last through Friday, July 25. At least 12 patrols are operating around the clock to assist motorists with issues such as flat tires, dead batteries, or overheated engines, supplementing the regular Highway Emergency Lane Patrol (H.E.L.P.) service. The patrols use specially equipped trucks to transport drivers to safety if needed and respond to calls via *999, Tollway dispatch, or Illinois State Police. Motorists are advised to stay with their vehicles, use hazard lights, and note their location for faster help.
