CHICAGO — Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul filed a lawsuit against State Farm and its affiliated companies seeking to force the insurer to provide homeowners insurance data to the Illinois Department of Insurance. The department launched an examination in 2024 into State Farm’s policies and premiums nationwide, including zip-code level data on coverage, claims, and premiums. State Farm, headquartered in Bloomington, has refused to provide the requested information, which the lawsuit says is required under the Illinois Insurance Code. The department says access to the data is necessary to ensure fair treatment of homeowners and to assess challenges in the insurance market.
