SPRINGFIELD – As students return to school in Illinois, the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security (IEMA-OHS) urges families to prepare in various ways beyond disaster drills. The Safe2HelpIL initiative provides a confidential tool for students to report bullying, mental health issues, or concerns about peers, aiming to end the silence around these issues. Students can reach Safe2HelpIL by calling, texting, or using the app. Since its launch in 2021, over 3,000 incidents have been reported.
