Illinois Storm Victims May Seek Tax Penalty Waivers

SPRINGFIELD — Illinois taxpayers in areas covered by Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s disaster proclamation for summer 2026 storms may seek a waiver of penalties and interest on taxes. Taxpayers requesting a waiver should send the Illinois Department of Revenue a brief written explanation stating why they cannot file or pay on time. Requests may be submitted electronically to REV.DisasterRelief@Illinois.gov.
