CHERRY VALLEY — Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 2 Special Agents arrested a 33-year-old former Cherry Valley and Winnebago County Police Officer on two counts of stalking and two counts of official misconduct following a multiagency investigation. The Illinois State Police say the Cherry Valley Police Department requested assistance in March 2026 after receiving a complaint involving an individual who had served as a part-time officer with the department and as a full-time deputy with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators determined the alleged conduct occurred over multiple years while the officer was both on and off duty, and he has since resigned from both agencies. The findings were presented to the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office, which issued an arrest warrant for Tyler C. Bryan of Cherry Valley. He later turned himself in to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office on May 8th. Illinois State Police said the investigation remains open and additional charges are possible.
