Illinois Residents Can Get Phone and Internet Discounts Through Lifeline Program

CHICAGO — The Illinois Commerce Commission is encouraging residents to apply for the Federal Communications Commission’s Lifeline program, which provides monthly discounts to help low-income customers afford phone and broadband services. Eligible participants can receive up to $9.25 a month for broadband or bundled services, up to $5.25 for voice-only service, and up to $34.25 for those on qualifying Tribal lands. The program is open to residents who meet income requirements or participate in certain public assistance programs.
