Illinois Reports Record $48.5 Billion in Tourism Spending in 2024

CHICAGO — Illinois recorded 113 million visitors in 2024 who spent $48.5 billion, according to state data, up by 500,000 visitors and $1.3 billion from the previous year. Hotel tax revenue reached $367 million, a 14 percent increase from the prior record, while tourism-related spending generated $4.7 billion in state and local tax revenue and supported about 282,000 jobs in the hospitality sector.
