Illinois Releases Sample Fire Safety Guideline for Fire Departments

SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Department of Labor, in partnership with other fire safety organizations, has released a sample fire safety guideline to help fire departments improve response to structure fires. Developed with the State Fire Marshal, Fire Service Institute, Fire Chiefs Association, and MABAS-Illinois, the three-page document covers incident command, accountability, and mayday procedures. While not mandatory, it aims to help departments build or strengthen their own safety policies. The guideline is available at osha.illinois.gov/fire.
