CHICAGO — Illinois has ranked second in the nation for corporate expansions and relocations for the fourth year in a row, while Chicago was named the top metro area for the 13th straight year, according to Site Selection Magazine. The state also held its second-place ranking for projects per capita. In 2025, Illinois recorded 680 business expansions or relocations, including Pure Lithium moving to Chicago, Damera Corporation opening an electric bus plant near Peoria, Rivian investing in a supplier park in Normal, Cronus Chemicals building a $2 billion fertilizer plant in Tuscola, and Epic Pharma Solutions opening a facility in Pekin. The Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park in Chicago attracted tenants including PsiQuantum, Infleqtion, Pasqal, and Diraq. Strong fiscal growth, workforce programs, infrastructure, and incentive policies have helped Illinois maintain its position as a leading state for business development.
