Illinois Masonic Family Identification Program to Host Free Event at Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival

ROCHELLE — The Illinois Masonic Family Identification Program will set up a free family ID tent this weekend during the Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival. The program offers parents a way to assist authorities if a child goes missing or is abducted.

Secretary Jay Byrd of Horicon Masonic Lodge No. 244, AF&AM in Rochelle said they are doing this free for families.

“We keep just a permission slot. We do photos, we do videos, we do everything that would pertain to finding a lost child that is put on a little flash drive and given to the family,” he said. “If a child, God forbid, comes up missing, you just give that to a police officer who puts it in his computer and it’s on the amber alert and they have all the information they need.”
