Illinois Lawmakers Push Bill to Protect Consumers From Gym Membership Scams

SPRINGFIELD – Legislation is moving through the Illinois Statehouse aimed at cracking down on gym membership scams. The measure prevents gym and fitness centers from cancelling or changing benefits promised in a lifetime membership. State Sen. Christopher Belt’s bill requires gyms to clearly disclose the details of a membership when the contract is being signed.
