CHICAGO — The Illinois Department of Human Services has officially launched the Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery, combining the former divisions of Mental Health and Substance Use Prevention and Recovery. The new division is designed to improve care for people with mental health and substance use disorders by streamlining services and reducing administrative barriers for providers. Announced after an executive order signed in February became law, the integration brings together staff and services under one structure to support inpatient, outpatient, and community-based care across Illinois.
