Illinois Home Sales Increase While Rockford Sales Fall

SPRINGFIELD — Illinois home sales increased 3.1% in March compared to a year ago, with 10,075 closed sales statewide and a median sales price of $315,000, up 6.8%. The Chicago metro area recorded 6,928 sales, up 3.8%, while sales in the City of Chicago fell 4.3% to 1,766 homes. The Rockford metro area posted one of the largest sales declines in the state, falling 41.2% to 160 closed sales. The median home price in Rockford rose 23.1% to $240,000.
