The high school football season begins on Wednesday in Illinois as programs can starting practicing for their first game later this month.
The season will start a week earlier due to the additional playoff round. Each of the 8 classes will have 48 teams instead of 32.
The first games will be played from August 20th through the 22nd.
The Rochelle Hubs open up the season on Friday, August 21st, with a home game against Normal U-High.
The remainder of the IHSA fall sports teams can begin practice next Monday.
