CHICAGO – The governor of Illinois says he’s sounding the alarm after learning President Trump may send National Guard troops to the streets of Chicago. Democrat JB Pritzker says there is no emergency, such as crime, that would warrant sending in the Guard. Pritzker says it would be “illegal” and “unconstitutional” to send in troops, and he believes Trump is only trying to intimidate his political rivals. “The Washington Post” reported the Pentagon has been planning a military deployment to Chicago for weeks. Pritzker says he’s never been contacted by the White House, and learned of the possibility of the National Guard through the Post.
