Illinois Corn, Soybean, and Wheat Crops Show Strong Progress

SPRINGFIELD – Illinois crops are showing strong development as of June 8, 2025, according to new data from the USDA. Corn planting in the state reached 97%, ahead of the five-year average, with 89% emerged and 68% rated good to excellent. Soybeans also advanced, with 91% planted and 81% emerged, matching or exceeding average levels, while 59% of the crop was in good to excellent condition. Winter wheat in Illinois is 98% headed and ahead of the historical pace for harvest, with 58% rated good to excellent. Recent fieldwork was limited to 4.1 suitable days, and topsoil moisture remained mostly adequate or surplus across the state.
