SPRINGFIELD – The crops across the Land of Lincoln are still ahead of the five year average. Illinois corn and soybean development is looking good, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s report this week. Corn silking reached 98% in the state, with 68% in the dough stage and 19% dented, while soybean blooming stood at 92% and pod setting at 76%. Corn was rated 63% good to excellent and soybeans 57% good to excellent.
