Illinois Childhood Vaccination Rates Stay Above Targets

SPRINGFIELD — Illinois officials say childhood vaccination rates in schools remain strong, with nearly all required immunizations at or above the 95% level needed to limit disease spread, according to a state dashboard. Data from more than 4,600 schools in the 2025 to 2026 year shows slight increases for most vaccines, with meningococcal the only one below target at 94.39%, while measles coverage reached 96.78%. Officials said some local areas remain below the threshold, which could raise the risk of outbreaks.
