Illinois Announces $796,000 in Specialty Crop Grant Funding

SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Department of Agriculture announced more than $796,000 in Specialty Crop Block Grant funding will be available over the next three years to support projects that expand access to fresh produce and strengthen the state’s specialty crop industry. The funding, through the U.S. Department of Agriculture program, will prioritize beginning farmers, nutrition and health education, food safety, sustainability and conservation projects. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, government agencies, colleges and universities, and trade associations. Applications are due by noon June 5, 2026.
