IDPH Confirms First Human Case of West Nile Virus in Illinois in 2026

SPRINGFIELD —  The Illinois Department of Public Health is confirming the first human case of West Nile virus in Illinois this year.  The case involves a resident of Piatt County.  IDPH has also identified three other probable human cases of West Nile from northern Illinois.  So far in 2026, the virus has been observed in 50 Illinois counties.
