IDNR Honors Kampmeier And Holt For Heroic Actions

SPRINGFIELD — The Illinois Department of Natural Resources recognized Conservation Police Officer Brianna Kampmeier and Rock Cut State Park technician Jeffrey Holt among its 2025 award recipients for bravery and service. Kampmeier, assigned to Rock Island County, received the Purple Heart after she was attacked during an arrest at Hennepin Canal State Park and, with help from a bystander, subdued the suspect. Holt received the Civilian Hero Award for rescuing a man who fell through the ice at Rock Cut State Park in February. The department also named Officer Austin Priest of Pike County as Officer of the Year and honored other conservation police officers for their contributions to public safety and resource protection.
