SPRINGFIELD — Illinois hunters can begin archery turkey hunting this month, with the season running through Jan. 18. Closures will be in effect Nov. 21-23 and Dec. 4-7 in counties with a firearms season and in Kane County west of Illinois 47. The season remains open Oct. 1 through Jan. 18 in Cook, DuPage, Lake, and Kane counties east of Illinois 47. Also beginning Oct. 1, additional permits for public duck and goose hunting areas will be available on a first-come, first-served basis until quotas are filled or 72 hours before a hunt date. Hunters can apply online for duck, goose, and turkey permits.
