ROCKFORD — Hard Rock Casino Rockford and the City of Rockford announced plans Thursday for a new Hard Rock Hotel and Convention Center next to the casino. The project includes a more than 200 room hotel with a spa, fitness center, new dining options and direct access to the casino and entertainment venues. The adjoining convention center will feature 15,000 square feet of flexible space for conventions, business retreats and social events alongside Hard Rock Live. City officials said the project would be financed through the city’s bonding authority pending approval by the Rockford City Council, while Hard Rock would be solely responsible for repayment through a development and management agreement. Officials said repayment would come from hotel and convention center revenues and not from the city’s general fund or property taxes.
