Giannoulias to Renew Push to Bar Insurers From Using Age, Credit, ZIP Codes in Auto Rates

CHICAGO –  Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias is launching a statewide campaign aimed at preventing insurance companies from using certain data to charge higher auto insurance rates.  As part of his “Driving Change” campaign, Giannoulias is asking residents to share their stories about unfair and discriminatory ratemaking practices employed by auto insurance companies.  Data collected includes credit scores, zip codes and age.  Illinoisans can share their stories online or at a series of town halls being held across the state.
