Gateway Project Costs Rise in Davis Junction

DAVIS JUNCTION — A change order has added $26,562.40 to the Gateway Subdivision project after adjustments to the entrance design and right-of-way. The entrance was shifted south, requiring additional asphalt and a binder layer to connect the new road. The Illinois Department of Transportation modified the right-of-way to allow for possible future turn lanes, pending future traffic needs The Stenstrom Construction Group was originally awarded a $2.4 million contract for the Lot 1 Improvements Project, which includes drainage work, new pavement markings, sidewalks, utilities, and a building. Construction is partially funded through the Rebuild Downtowns and Main Streets Capital Grant. The project is awaiting IDOT approval to begin full roadway work, and the original budget included $88,000 in contingencies to cover changes like this.
