Gas Prices Hold Steady as Summer Demand Slows

ROCHELLE — Gas prices remain steady nationwide as the summer slowdown continues, with the national average for a gallon of regular at $3.16, according to the American Automobile Association. Crude oil prices hovering around $65 a barrel have helped keep prices stable, with no major spikes or drops so far in 2025. A month ago, the average was $3.22, and a year ago it was $3.51. In Illinois, the average stands at $3.40, with local prices at $3.16 in Lee County, $3.13 in Ogle County, and $3.31 in DeKalb County.
