Gas Prices Begin to Fall as Demand Slows

CHICAGO — Gas prices are starting to decline as drivers settle into fall routines and demand decreases, the American Automobile Association reports. The national average for a gallon of regular is $3.19, with Illinois averaging $3.44. Local averages include $3.34 in DeKalb County, $3.16 in Lee County, and $3.13 in Ogle County. Analysts cite an abundant crude oil supply and the seasonal switch to cheaper winter-blend gasoline as factors contributing to the lower prices.
