FORRESTON – Forreston will host its annual Sauerkraut Days festival from July 31 to August 3, offering a packed schedule of events including food trucks, a beer garden, outdoor movie screening of Despicable Me 4, DJ and karaoke, a car and bike show, craft and vendor booths, Bingo, a parade, and live music by the Killer B’s. Festival favorites also include a watermelon eating contest, a spaghetti eating contest, the Lion’s Club pork chop dinner, and the American Legion’s Sauerkraut Lunch.
Jane Koeler, Chair of the festival, said the fun starts on Thursday.
“We kick off on Thursday night with the fireworks, we took and moved our kids run and our 5K run to Thursday night prior to the fireworks. All those events happen at the Forreston High School,” she said. “So we’ll access the track that we have over there for the kids run. And then the 5K kind of runs throughout the village and ends up back there in time for the fireworks to begin.”
