ROCHELLE — The Flagg Township Museum will host its 250 Hands Together Banner Day celebration from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, to recognize the official signing of the Declaration of Independence. While the Declaration was adopted on July 4, 1776, most delegates signed the document nearly a month later on Aug. 2, 1776. The free event invites visitors to trace their hand on a commemorative banner or create a chalk handprint on the sidewalk as part of the celebration. Organizers hope the activity will give community members a chance to take part in honoring an important moment in American history during the nation’s 250th anniversary observance.
