ROCHELLE — The Flagg Township Museum is looking for a new director as Jan DeVore prepares to retire after more than a decade of involvement with the museum. DeVore began as an assistant director around 2015 and took over as director in 2019. During her time with the museum, staff have improved collections management, created a research station, documented local business history and secured grants for building improvements and educational programs. DeVore hopes the next director will bring new ideas and strengthen ties with the community.
“Community connections are becoming kind of a hot topic for us to do better at that. So we’re looking forward to somebody who can come in with, again, new ideas, fresh perspective.”
Applications are due Nov. 15. Candidates should submit a résumé and letter of interest to hubhistory@gmail.com. More information about the position is available at flaggtownshipmuseumrochelle.org under the staff and volunteers section. The museum is located in Rochelle’s historic Old City and Town Hall building and is open Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. DeVore hopes to retire by the end of the year, though the transition could extend into January depending on the hiring process.
