ROCHELLE — The Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District Board met Monday to review the past summer season, approve upcoming projects, and discuss fall programming. Executive Director Jackee Ohlinger reported more than 8,800 people visited Spring Lake Pool before it closed for the year, averaging 131 each day over a 10-week span. Staff highlighted the efforts of seasonal workers and maintenance crews who kept facilities running smoothly, as well as the addition of new driving range equipment, paving projects, and ongoing upkeep across the district. Board members also heard that the district’s annual audit, conducted by Lauterbach & Amen, LLP, found no issues.
Looking ahead, the board approved plans to pursue an OSLAD grant that could provide up to $1 million in matching funds for upgrades at Tilton Memorial Park. The proposed improvements include new batting cages, playground equipment, fitness stations, turf and field surfaces, lighting, concession stand upgrades, and parking lot paving. A decision on the grant is expected in spring 2026.
The board also approved a new preventative maintenance program for the REC Center after frustrations with a previous vendor. The new contract with H2I Group, which totals $12,718, provides for annual inspections and the ability to handle repairs to nets, winches, batting cages, and basketball equipment, often within 24 hours.
Maureen Stevens, Director of Recreation, highlighted Fall programming will include triathlons, a swim-in movie, senior luncheons, and youth golf lessons, while staff also prepare to install new pool heaters and complete needed repairs at Spring Lake Pool.
