Family of Ten Displaced After Fire Destroys Lee County Home

PAW PAW – A family of ten have lost everything after a devastating house fire in rural Lee County on Wednesday morning. The Paw Paw Fire Department was called around 8 AM to the 1000 block of German Road by a resident who noticed smoke. Three occupants were home at the time and evacuated without injury.  Paw Paw Fire Chief Robert Edwards said when they arrived a portion of the home was fully involved. Crews remained on the scene for around two and half hours. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Red Cross was contacted to help the family. No other injuries were reported, but two dogs did perish in the blaze.

An account for financial donations has been set up at Numark Credit Union in Paw Paw for the family, which has eight children ages 8 to 17.
