Families Of Victims Of Crash At Chatham School Camp File Lawsuit

CHATHAM –  Families of the victims of last year’s deadly crash at the YNOT After School Camp in Chatham are suing.  A lawsuit was filed on behalf of the five victims and four surviving children.   In April of last year, a vehicle crashed into the camp building and hit numerous people inside before exiting the other side.  Two seven-year-olds, an eight-year-old and an 18-year-old were killed in the incident.  The suit claims the camp was built in violation of safety codes and didn’t have adequate protection to prevent a vehicle from crashing into the facility.  The driver of the vehicle, Marianne Akers, wasn’t injured in the crash and no charges were filed.
