ROCHELLE — More than 70 million people from the South to the Midwest are under heat alerts as a strong heat dome builds across the U.S..
Matt Friedlein with the National Weather Service said hot weather may stick around.
“This muggy ear mass is here to stay for a couple days at least, and it may try to come back in the final days of July too, but it will get as hot as the low nineties today and be right around 90 on Thursday. That’ll make heat indices right around 105F.”
A Heat Advisory has been issued for the area from 10 a.m. today through 10 p.m. tomorrow, warning of increased risk for heat-related illnesses and urging residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and check on vulnerable individuals.
