OREGON — A Veterans of Foreign Wars led fundraiser resulted in the sale of 20 veteran banners that were installed last week around the Ogle County Courthouse area, covering the 100 block of South Fourth Street, the 400 block of Washington Street, and extending toward the post office. Oregon officials said the City Council reached a consensus to expand the program around the courthouse using double brackets at an estimated cost of about $80 per pole. Officials also plan to consolidate the smaller existing banners for a more uniform look and said all future veteran banners will be produced at the city’s standard size. The banners are intended for year round display and include UV coating, though officials noted extended exposure may reduce their lifespan to about three years. City marketing and arts community banners will continue to be displayed in business districts to maintain city branding.
