Dixon Street Department Adds Brine Systems To Snow Plows

DIXON – The Dixon Street Department has added brine systems to its snow plows to improve winter road treatment and reduce salt use. The system uses a tank of liquid salt brine that pre-wets salt as it is spread on roadways, helping it stick to pavement and work more efficiently. City officials said the change allows crews to use less rock salt, reduce waste, protect the environment and improve road safety while saving time and taxpayer dollars.
