DeKalb Unveils Bluey in 2025 Paint-A-Plug Program

DEKALB — The City of DeKalb and its Citizens’ Community Enhancement Commission have launched the 2025 Paint-A-Plug program, featuring the newest creation, Bluey, a fire hydrant painted by artist Amanda Stout near the Hopkins Park playground for children to enjoy. The program invites artists of all levels to transform fire hydrants into public art and coincides with preparations for Illinois America 250, marking 250 years since the Declaration of Independence, encouraging historical or patriotic themes. Partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, the program also allows past participants to refresh previous Paint-A-Plug projects. Applications are open at cityofdekalb.com/1173/Paint-a-Plug.
