DeKalb Council Discusses Homelessness

DEKALB — The DeKalb City Council on Monday night discussed homelessness and housing insecurity. Speakers from the Family Service Agency and Hope Haven highlighted the need for long-term support, coordinated services, and community collaboration. Officials noted challenges including public safety, individuals declining services, and gaps in existing resources. The council agreed to explore forming an ad hoc committee to engage service providers, review ordinances, and develop recommendations for better city support and resource allocation for residents experiencing homelessness.
