DEKALB – The DeKalb City Council awarded a $25,000 Architectural Improvement Program grant to the Lincoln Inn Family Restaurant at 302 Grove Street on Monday night. The grant would help fund a project that includes replacing the building’s sloped and flat roofing, gutters and rooftop HVAC units before installing solar panels across the restaurant and banquet facility. The overall project is estimated to cost more than $375,000. City officials said the solar installation qualifies for assistance through the Architectural Improvement Program because it does not increase the property’s commercial assessed value for purposes of a long term TIF forgivable loan. The grant is the maximum available under the program.
