DeKalb Breaks Ground on New Hotel

DEKALB — DeKalb broke ground on a 120-room Fairfield by Marriott and TownePlace Suites on Peace Road to serve the city’s growing industrial base and rising lodging demand. Built by eo5 Hotels near major employers and NIU, the $23.2 million project could rebate up to $2 million in hotel-motel taxes under a proposed 10-year agreement to offset construction costs. The hotel is expected to retain tax revenue, support events, and encourage further development along Peace Road.
