DeKalb Approves Changes to Door to Door Vendor Rules

DEKALB  — The DeKalb City Council has approved changes to regulations for peddlers, solicitors and itinerant merchants following resident concerns about repeated visits and uncertainty over vendor identification. The amended ordinance limits door to door sales activity to 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and restricts vendors to a maximum of 30 days of activity in the city. The changes also increase the application fee and daily fee from $25 to $100, create a city website where residents can verify licensed vendors, and raise penalties for unlicensed activity from $300 to $500 per day. City officials said the updates are designed to improve transparency, protect residents from unwanted solicitations and ensure vendors follow city requirements.
