Cubs Win 4th Straight Game, 3-1 Over San Diego, White Sox Lose in Detroit 7-4

The Chicago Cubs won their 4th straight game on Friday as they beat the San Diego Padres 3-1 in their home opener at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs scored 2 runs in the 5th inning on an RBI single by Justin Turner and fielder’s choice for the win.

Chicago had only 3 hits in the game.

Shota Imanaga was your winning pitcher as he threw 7 1/3 innings. He gave up a home run to Martin Maldonado and had 4 strikeouts.

Ryan Pressly got his third save in the 9th inning.

It was the first loss for San Diego after starting the season (7-0).

Game 2 in the series is Saturday afternoon.

The Chicago White Sox lost their third straight game on Friday as the Detroit Tigers came up winners 7-4.

The Tigers were led by Kerry Carpenter who had 2 solo home runs and Riley Greene who had 3 hits which included a home run.

Brooks Baldwin drove in 2 runs for the White Sox.

Jonathon Cannon took the loss for Chicago.

Game 2 in the series is Saturday afternoon in Detroit.
