The Chicago Cubs snapped a 3-game losing streak Wednesday night in St. Louis as they beat the Cardinals 8-0.
Ian Happ hit a leadoff home run and had 3 RBI in the game. Reese McGuire and Kyle Tucker also went deep for Chicago.
Matthew Boyd gave up 3 hits in 6 scoreless innings for the Cubs in his 7th win this season.
Erick Fedde took the loss for St. Louis.
The final game in the series is Thursday afternoon in St. Louis.
The Cubs are making roster moves. The team optioned righthanded starting pitcher Ben Brown to Triple-A Iowa.
The move was made to make room for lefthanded All-Star Shota Imanaga to be activated from the 15-day injured list on Thursday.
Brown was demoted after he was rocked for eight runs in Monday’s loss to the Cardinals.
