(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago Cubs have officially named their closing pitcher. The club announced that Daniel Palencia will begin the 2026 season as its closer.
Palencia took over the role after Ryan Pressly lost it at the beginning of last season. He went 1-and-6 with a 2.91 ERA and 22 saves in 54 appearances in 2025.
