Rookie right-hander Cade Horton won his fourth straight start as the Chicago Cubs beat the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night 4-1.
Horton recorded 8 strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings for his 7th win of the season. Daniel Palencia worked the 9th inning for his 16th save.
The Cubs had 6 hits in the game. They included 2 solo home runs by Michael Busch and Matt Shaw.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had an RBI double for Toronto.
The Cubs remain 7 1/2 games back in the NL Central Division behind Milwaukee.
The Brewers won their 12th straight game on Wednesday as they beat the Pirates 12-5.
Milwaukee had now won 14 out of their last 15 games.
The rubber game in the series with the Cubs and Blue Jays will be Thursday afternoon in Toronto.
