Creston to Replace Aging Streetlights with LEDs

CRESTON – The Village of Creston will replace aging streetlights in Creston Commons with LED fixtures after six of the 19 existing lights stopped working and replacement parts became unavailable. The new lights, the same as those used in Rochelle, direct light downward and come with a five-year warranty. Village officials approved purchasing eight lights at a cost of around $1,200 each, with installation and future maintenance handled by Rochelle Municipal Utilities under the existing streetlight agreement. The replacement will improve visibility and safety in residential areas where new homes are being built.
