Creston-Dement Public Library Prepares for Move to New Facility

CRESTON – The Creston-Dement Public Library will be moving into a new building this week, with hopes of reopening for a soft launch on March 17th, pending final occupancy approval. The new facility offers nearly 12,000 books, DVDs, and audiobooks, along with improved amenities such as reinforced storm shelter bathrooms and a larger community room for events and programming.  Library Director Kristi Scherer said that it wouldn’t be possible without the support they have received.

We’re very fortunate that Charlotte Berg donated the two acres of land to us and that the Crescent community voted on the referendum,” she said. “And we’re very fortunate to have that and the support of the community.”

Berg passed away in 2020.

The library’s new location also features better parking and accessibility, along with a quieter setting away from train noise. A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration are planned for late April or early May.
