Crawford Foundation Looking For Fundraising Alternatives

ROCHELLE — The David Crawford Foundation, a public charity serving Rochelle Elementary School District No. 231, gave their annual report at the District Board Meeting Tuesday night. Foundation President Todd Pursator said they have provided $8300 in grants and support for educational programs from preschool through eighth grade, but they have seen some challenges in fundraising.

“Our annual fundraiser we’ve done the last two years, we’ve done a spaghetti dinner,” he said. “Turnout for that has been extremely low. So this next year we’re going to kind of brainstorm to see if there’s something else we can do to generate some money. ”

He said they are looking to try another avenue to not only support education in the area, but connect with families and students. The organization was founded 31 years ago and funds teacher enrichment projects within the district.
