DEKALB – The DeKalb County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who died following an officer involved shooting Saturday night in Sycamore as David Coursey, 36, of Sycamore. Police responded around 8 p.m. Sept. 19 to the area of Foxpointe Drive and Constance Lane after a report of suspicious activity involving a man who had approached a vehicle holding an object. Officers encountered Coursey with a knife, and police said he charged at officers before shots were fired. Officers provided medical aid at the scene before Coursey was taken to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:52 p.m. The officers involved were treated and released. Illinois State Police and the DeKalb County Coroner’s Office are investigating the shooting.
