BYRON – Constellation Energy presented information to the Byron City Council on Wednesday night about a proposed rezoning of 185 acres east of the station. Ryan Tozier with Constellation noted that Marion Township voted 3-1 to support the map amendment earlier this month. Due to the location being within 1.5 miles of Byron, Constellation had to seek a resolution of support for the rezoning. Constellation noted that these additional acres were newly purchased parcels adjacent to existing rezoned properties, which they mentioned could be for an as yet unannounced data center or other installation. The Byron City Council gave their approval after a short discussion.
The matter goes before the Ogle County Zoning Board of Appeals next week.
